Help Continue the Mission of the St. John of God.

A Charity, Based in Dublin, Ireland – Join Our Cause: Supporting Vital Services and Initiatives.

Please Help by Supporting our African Mission

The Fundraising efforts of St. John of God for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health struggles began in 1960.

Assist African Nations (Malawi, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ghana, and Kenya) with Mental Health, Primary Healthcare, and Educational Services.  We are striving to promote mental health services, primary healthcare outreach clinics, skill-based training programs for these recovering from mental health issues and other disabilities, educations for special needs children, and employment training in African Nations such as Malawi, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ghana, and Kenya.  Facility improvement also falls under our purview.

Support our African Missions in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ghana, and Kenya: A win-win opportunity.  Our mission in Africa are in dire  need of your financial assistance.  Rather than simply asking for money, we want to offer you something in return. Our new raffles provide a chance to win a cash prize while supporting a meaningful cause.  We understand that winning money may not be your primary motivation for contributing, and we truly appreciate your genuine interest in supporting our mission.  This is our way of expressing gratitude for your generosity.

OUR URGENT NEED

Install 36 solar panels at Boko Health Neonatal Clinic in Cameroon, directly benefitting more than 9,000 patients, 38 staff and 45,000 family members. Project meets the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #7 – Affordable & Clean Energy.

Overall Goals :

Healthcare interruptions due to electric power shortages causes critical medical services to be suspended and rescheduled during available periods of electricity. This situation puts valuable patient lives at risk. Investment in alternate means of continuous electricity is needed for hospitals to provide patientcare throughout each day.

Solar panels offer pollution-free electricity. The location of the SJOGF hospital in Boka, Cameroon, ensures consistent daily sunshine, making solar energy a viable and renewable resource. Solar panels contribute to      on-going cost savings for electricity. Installing and maintaining much needed solar panels supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (#7) – Affordable & Clean Energy Goal.

Project Deliverables:

The SJOGF sponsored hospital in Boka requires installation of 36 solar panels, each producing 260 watts of energy, totaling 9,360 watts. This will provide continuous and uninterrupted electricity for safe operations and treatments, ante and post-natal facilities and support for the labs, treatment procedures and medical operations.

Expected Benefits:

Installation of solar panels will improve healthcare services for all patients.  A 30% reduction in mortality is expected as the Emergency and Triage departments will be able to continuously function.
