Install 36 solar panels at Boko Health Clinic, directly benefitting more than 9,000 patients, 38 staff and 45,000 family members.
Overall Objective: To provide a quality uninterrupted healthcare service at St John of God’s Clinic in Boko, Douala. This project meets the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #7 – Affordable & Clean Energy Goal Specific Objectives: To source and install solar panels to power the St John of God’s Clinic Boko. To reduce the breakdown of medical equipment due to an unstable electricity supply To train 2 people in the operation and maintenance of the solar panels. Project Deliverables: 36 solar panels, each producing 260 watts of energy will be fitted on the roof of the St John of God Boko Health Clinic. 3 staff trained in the operation and maintenance of the solar panels. Expected Benefits: A better health service for all staff and patients as all the departments will be functioning more effectively including the Lab, vaccine and medicine storage and ante and post-natal clinic A 30% reduction in mortality is expected as the Emergency and Triage departments will be functioning effectively at all times. A reliable power supply ensures that the core systems for the management of the hospital can function effectively At least a 50% reduction in electricity costs and thus increased funds for other healthcare services.
